The recently completed Horizon 2020 European Research project—HOLISHIP—Holistic Optimization of Ship Design and Operation for Life Cycle (2016–2020) has developed suitable tools software platforms which are necessary the creation innovative design solutions meeting set low-emission strategic objectives. present paper introduces an innovative, holistic approach to ship development integrated tools, used in practical applications. In era 4th industrial revolution, this project sets out substantially advance via introduction a fully computerized, multi-disciplinary optimization life-cycle operation. enables exploration huge space relatively short time, as well distributed/multi-site working virtual reality testing; thus, it is strong asset maritime concepts response needs 21st century.
